The purpose of the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) administrative hearing is to resolve disputes amongst Contractors and those they do business with. These hearings are conducted by the Office of Administrative Hearings, or OAH. The CSLB is represented by a Deputy Attorney General.  This is a hearing which resolves disputes, including complaints, citations and accusations, and can result in the suspension or loss of your contractors license.

The CSLB takes certain steps when another party files a Complaint against a contractor’s license. Depending on the specific violation, the CSLB has between 4 and 10 years to address these Complaints.  The first thing that the CSLB will do is send letters to the parties involved.  Typically, the letters are received within two or three weeks of the Complaint being filed.  The case is then assigned to a CSLB Consumer Services Representative. This individual will contact the parties and may request additional documents and other relevant information. A mediation process may be  conducted in an attempt to reach a resolution. If the informal mediation process is not successful, the Complaint may either be assigned to arbitration or transferred to a CSLB enforcement representative for further investigation. The CSLB can and will file charges that puts a license in jeopardy of suspension, or worse revocation.

If you are facing this type of legal matter, the LAW OFFICE OF MITCHELL B.
